TA changed the spacing (and thickness of their chainrings) to keep the "current," so the latest versions work with 10-speed. If you used a 1970s TA crank with original rings and spacers with 10-speed, you might have problems.

Adapting an older TA crank to 10-speed would be easy - you just swap the rings and spacers. (Unfortunately, the thicker rings aren't available any longer, but you can use modern, thin rings with old spacers and 5-speed just fine. The spacers don't wear out, and they'd be easy to make, anyhow.)
