The stainless Crescents that we sold didn't have any lug lining if I remember correctly. The lugs were painted black and the Reynolds 531 forks and stays were chrome plated. The head tube and 3 main tubes were stainless and you could clearly see the excess silver braze on the tubes around the lugs. The polished main tubes never seemed as shiney as in the photos CR website.

I think that in 1975 these bikes were priced in the $500-$600 range. They never caught on in our market because things didn't rust very much in New Mexico plus British and Italian bikes and frames with far better cosmetics were becoming more readily available for less money.
The orange paint on the Crescent "pepitas" chipped very easily. Also the lower priced bikes with Japanese components used Suntour dropouts. We had a number of right rear Suntour dropouts break at the axle stop screw hole. They seemed to be too hard.
