Subject: [CR] The Best (Chain) Lube

The only chain-lube I now use is made from Olivo, an olive-oil derived soap. Excellent lubricating qualities (like sodium-based grease) but water-soluble so cleanup is a snap (incl chainrings, cluster, etc) with garden hose. The lube does dry-out as water content evaporates; but I fixed that by attaching a woollen wick to rear derailleur that constantly wipes chain. I only occasionally need to re-moisten with water during a ride. Creamy consistency thick enough not to fly-off is the goal. No corrosion problems thus far...perhaps because air cannot penetrate soap film? Anyway, works for me. You folks who live in humid climes may be able to dispense with the wick altogether!
