I've been fairly conservative in any CR list "promotion" with regard to Mel Pinto Imports, but I had an interesting conversation with Mr. Pinto about Silca pumps as part of my MPI acquisition and getting my head around what was still being bought and sold by MPI. When I asked about why MPI only distributed Silca floor pumps, Mel said that the Silca pumps were simply the only pumps worth selling, because they were the best floor pump made, and the only one really designed to be serviceable and re-built. I'm sure that's debatable, but that was Mel take on it, and one that he's held for 50 years. And while I haven't fully unpacked and sorted all the Silca spares that I've acquired, I can say that there are lots of spare parts. I think every piece on the pumps can be purchased as replacement parts Of course MPI also has new Silca Pista and Super Pista pumps, and they are still some of the nicest pumps I ever used.
