Subject: [CR] Who sold me that bike?

Friends: A house rule of mine is that when a new Vintage bike in my collection goes on it's first ride or show, I send the previous owner a note and a picture.

So...in 2007 I got a 1977 Peugeot PY-10 frame and a few parts from listmemb er Chuck Brooks.

Some time later I won a bike (wrong size for me) from another listmember on ebay that had the all gold Simplex equipment I wanted for the PY-10.

I got the donor bike (Maybe a Gitane TDF?) and stripped the parts for my PY -10. Frankly I was a bit embarrassed to buy a bike just to mine it for parts.... After waiting long enough that I thought nobody would notice, I put the fra me on ebay.

Sold it.

And then got a kind and gentle note from previous owner saying that it woul d have been good form to give him first refusal on buying back the frame.

Now it gets worse...PY-10 is complete and GORGEOUS, it has had it's first s howing at the Texas Velo Roundup. I sent Chuck a note and a pic...and I can't find my record of who provided the STUNNING gold Simplex jewelry for it!

So...dear previous owner of the bike with the gold jewelry...check out the PY-10 that Jon Fischer has posted on his site at: http://picasaweb.google.com/cuda67/VeloRoundup2009 with my thanks for helping making it glow!
