Fellow bike nuts:

We must all have stories about the "one that got away," be it fish, foul or bike. My story takes place in 1967 or 1968. It was my third visit to Faliero Masi and his Vigorelli workshop. I had come to pick up my third corsa Special. The bike he offered me, however, was unlike any I had seen before. It had holes drilled in the dropouts, chainrings, shifters, brake levers and the rear derailleur body. Afraid that it would fall apart on the pot-holed streets of New York, I said I didn't want it. Faliero gave me a sly smile and told me to come back in three week, when he would have another bike for me.
