"Worse yet, it seems to be contagious. In a thinly disguised dating inquiry earlier today Peter Kohler outed himself as the new owner of a Brooklyn era Gios. Knowing his commitment to style I'm sure he's growing out some nice mutton-chops in anticipation of its arrival from the continent. "

Actually, Jon I have been "outed" as owing an Italian machine way before this one. It's my dirty little secret that I own (and enjoy immensely) a 1971 Masi GC (well enjoy when Brian Baylis finally repaints it, hint, hint,), a 1973 Cinelli SC, a 1982 Ciocc Mockba 80 and a 1985 Masi 3v. Indeed, when this 1975(ish) Gios is added, I will own as many Italian machines as I do French ones. How 'bout that?

But, yes, style remains the real collection criteria for me and Brooklyn/Gios in the mid 1970s has that in spades. Was there ever a more stylish peloton than that portrayed in "A Sunday in Hell"? And the weather was so nice, they didn't even get muddy.

NB: many thanks for the helpful dating pointers for my Gios-in-waiting. My eBay searches can now, I think, revolve about "Campagnolo 75" for the next several weeks it seems.
