Interesting, but I think there will be considerable dispute that that bike is really the one Simpson was riding on the Ventoux that day.

Here is a photo published by VeloNews of Simpson on the Ventoux that day:

http://velonews.com/photo/30510

Someone, I believe Russ Fitzgerald, posted this in a past thread on this subject. It convinced me that Simpson, like Merckx, actually rode rebadged Masis, when they were on Peugeot. I had known about Merckx, but never believed Simpson rode Masi until that past thread. This is clearly not the same bike you posted the photo of today. The VeloNews photo shows Simpson on a bike which, aside from the paint and decals, bears no resemblance to a 1967 PX-10. The bike Tom is riding has a shorter and campletely different rake from a PX-10, and no chrome at all, whereas a real PX-10 had half chromed forks and stays. Tom's bike also lacks the black-painted lugs of a real PX-10, and the lugs and fork crown don't look the same either. Also it lacks the 531 fork decals found on a PX-10. It is clearly not a Peugeot, and almost certainly not French, and probably Italian, so the Masi reports are highly credible.

The photo posted today not only does not matched the VeloNews one, but is not even a 1967 PX-10, unless perhaps it had been refinished. I have PX-10's from 1967, 1972 and circa 1975. The bike posted today has a mid-70's downtube decal and the other decals are early or mid 70's also. A 1967 PX-10 had PEUGEOT in gold block letters on the DT, no bands. The bike posted today appears to be a genuine Peugeot PX-10, not a Masi as ridden by Tom Simpson, and the decals indicate no earlier than 1974. If it was really Tom's bike, then it was one he rode at times when it was a political problem to ride the disguised Masi, and also the decals have been replaced.

If you want a "Peugeot" like Simpson's, do what I have been trying to do - find a Masi with trashed paint, then have it refinished as a PX-10. I actually did find a Masi frameset for $250, but unfortunately the paint and decals were much too nice to repaint as a Peugeot, so I built it up as is and posted pics recently.
