Speaking of ferrules, anyone know the nominal size of the step-down ferrules used at the RD cable housing stops brazed on chainstays on late 70's/ early 80's frames? The brazeon stops were typically spherical. The hole in the rearward side of the stop was only just a bit larger than the bare cable, so the small end of the ferrule had to be quite small, while the large end of course had a ID roughly equal to the OD of the housing. I can't seem to find these ferrules from the normal sources anymore. The ones sold now only seem to step down to 4mm, which isn't small enough. Anyone know a source for the ones I am describing? I've been reusing old ones, but I will soon run out.

\r?\n> While they call it a "ferrule", strictly speaking
\r?\n> a ferrule is merely a
\r?\n> protective sleeve for the end of the cable casing. This is
\r?\n> actually a
\r?\n> stepped bushing that stops the ferrule from being pulled
\r?\n> inside the lever.
\r?\n> Sometimes they are slotted. I would actually call it a
\r?\n> bushing.
