Subject: [CR] FW: STOLEN PEUGEOT IN LONDON UK PLEASE HELP

Hi All

Mobile phone: +44(0)7896 921115 Office: +44 (0)20 8987 0955

Any of you kind Classic Rendezvous members who are in the UK might be so kind as to keep a look out for my PKN-10:

At 15.20 this afternoon (Sunday 26 April) my bicycle was stolen from outside the Coffee Cup cafe in Hampstead, London, UK. and as it is not an obviously valuable or re-sellable bike I fear it may just get dumped or thrown in the canal! I have ridden it all over Europe over the last 10 years so I am very attached to it. Frame number B 010 9899 (stamped under the bottom bracket - no sticker as i have seen on some Peugeots of the period) Peugeot 'Competition' model, 1980 (I think), VERY TALL FRAME - 25 1/4 INCHES, QUITE DISTINCTIVE - MUST HAVE BEEN A TALL THIEF! All original but for Huret front mech - not Sachs original Light metallic blue Chrome front fork ends PEUGEOT written in light orange lettering on downtubes 'Competition' in black lettering on top tube, near to saddle post French language Reynolds 531 sticker at top of downtube 'Braze a le main' (brazed by hand) on top tube on one side Brazed by hand' on the other side, in balck lettering Drop handlebars (original Philippes) Black foam handlebar tape Twin 'Knight' brand headlights hanging under the drop handlebar - no battery pack 'Cateye' round non-flashing rear lamp, with oblong black battery box below lense, under saddle Black plastic full length mudguards 'Trek' brand small bag under saddle at rear Original 1980-ish Peugeot cycle computer on handlebars - looks like a calculator, wired to crank sensor for cadence and to front wheel. I cannot seem to post pictures with this email but you can see pic of an indentical bike at: http://mysite.verizon.net/imagelib/sitebuilder/misc/show_image.html?linkedwidth¬tual&linkpath=http://mysite.verizon.net/vzerndgo/sitebuildercontent/sitebuilderpictures/Peugeot_1982_USA_Catalog_PKN10_2_Retropeugeot.jpg&%20target=tlx_pic832u&title=PKN10 If it had been a shiny, whizz-bang modern Bianchi or Colnago, I could understand it - but this bike is a French market model - the Reynolds sticker is in french as is the Brase a la main on the top tube - when i got the bike it had the front brake working off the left leve, French/continental style. I am reduced to riding my 1950 Claud Butler track bike with an added front brake, and a Raleigh Equipe, the shame, the shame...
