"Cinelli recommended them as they did not hit the DT near the shifters , Campy and all others (knock offs clones etc) did damage and even dent the DT. 68s swing UNDER the tube BOB FREITAS"

Uh, this may not always be the case. I made a tiny paint chip in a freshly painted frame just last week letting the fork swing around and tap the DT with a just installed Super 68 caliper. 54cm frame if that matters.

On the topic of Universal levers and cable pull. I have to say the best working Universal sidepulls I've ever had are on my 60's Raleigh Sport city bike that's converted to 700c. I'm using a pair of older well worn Extra's with the stock steel "3-Speed" bar and brake levers that came on the bike. The must have bucoo leverage as the touch is light and they actually modulate and stop the bike. I am using decent lined cables and the cheap generic "bike store" blocks. But this set up works way better than any of the stock set-up's on my road bikes. Must be the levers!
