The lugs are all nicely filed down which Jim usually took the time to do. The fast back seat lug cluster is another key. Another would be the brake cable guides not on the top of the top tube. This was done to make the brake cable flow to the back of the bike in a straight line. The Backwards K as part of the serial number was I believe Jims Signature. I don't believe the Jim Redkay decals on the down tube are original or of the same font as the originals. My guess is whoever did the decals for the bike didn't know how to spell Jims last name. Perhaps saw the original Red "K" on the head tube and thought his last name would be spelled REDKAY...  Bottom line, shes a beauty, Enjoy  Ed Busch Vonore Tennessee USA  ----- Original Message ----- From: "Isaac Schell" <ias23philly@yahoo.com> To: <classicrendezvous@bikelist.org> Sent: Monday, May 18, 2009 1:50 AM Subject: [CR] Jim Redcay photos on my flickr  =0AI just posted photos of my new (to me) Jim Redcay touring bike. http://www.flickr.com/photos/34409296@N02/sets/72157618395691400/  The bike came to me by way of my friends shop who picked it up at a swap. It will need some cleaning up (hopefully someday a new paint job) but overall a really great bike. At some point the bike must have been repainted because there is a "paint by Andreas Cueavas" decal at the bottom of the down tube. The odd thing is the decals on the bike, The head tube just has a "JR" and the downtube a "Jim Redkay" decal. I know he would put a red "K" on his headtube as a joke, but did he actually go so far as to spell his name wrong? I'm guessing at the time Cueavas or the bikes owner did not have the correct decals and made due with something a bit more home made. I do beleive that this is Jim Redcay bike. The seatcluster looks like the others that I have seen (and I have only seen a few on the internet) the circular cutouts on the lugs, the cable guides offset to the left, and a "K" stamped into the bottom bracket. I think that makes for a pretty convincing case. But if anybody has a different idea I would love to hear it. Did anyone on this list ever own this bike? I would love to know as much about it as possible. Thanks, Isaac SchellPhiladelphia PA   _______________________________________________ Classicrendezvous mailing list Classicrendezvous@bikelist.org http://www.bikelist.org/mailman/listinfo/classicrendezvous  _______________________________________________ Classicrendezvous mailing list Classicrendezvous@bikelist.org http://www.bikelist.org/mailman/listinfo/classicrendezvous  _______________________________________________Classicrendezvous mailing listClassicrendezvous@bikelist.orghttp://www.bikelist.org/mailman/listinfo/classicrendezvous
