Dear All, I have just measured the bottom bracket theads on the unknown frame..looks like they are Italian. Being a French bike enthusiast, I have nothing with Italian threads to check for sure! Are English and Italian steerer tube threads the same, or close? All the best, Peter Rogers Barrie, Ontario, Canada

Subject: Help Needed to Identify Unknown Frame

Calling the S.F.I. team (SFI = Steel Frame Identification) !!!!

Here's a link to photos of a frame that I have just acquired: http://petersclassicwheels.blogspot.com/

I bought the frame from an EBay vendor in France. The seller did not know what make the frame is, but I was told it is made from Columbus tubing

There are no identifying marks other than the frame size and the serial number 957 stamped into the bottom bracket shell. There are not marks left by stickers or decals.

The drop-outs are Campagnolo 1010/B and the RH rear end has the small threaded holes for Campag's Portacatena accessory, which supports the chain while the wheel is being changed.

The steerer tube has an english thread, but I do not know what the thread is in the bottom bracket yet. Seat Post diameter is 27.2mm

The headset fitted to the frame is a Shimano 600.

The brazed-on derailleur cable guides are Campagnolo.

At first, I thought that it might be an 80's Holdsworth, but the lugs do not correspond with this, though the fork crown looks similar. The colour of the frame corresponds with the pearl white used by Holdsworth during this period.

Any help will be much appreciated.

Kind regards, Peter Rogers
