Many people have had bad galvanic reactions between their seat post and frame. I think I used lithium grease once and really have quite a bit of missing material on one of my seatposts. But this isn't the case most of the time. I just removed my seatpost on my main bike after 20 years, and it was slightly discolored. I would have no problem with a handlebar/stem in the same condition.

I think if you keep the interface greased with the correct grease, you shouldn't have any problems.
