I've long been known here as a fan of French bikes, and more recently British and American ones. Never been a great fan of Italian bikes, probably because I'm a confirmed contrarian, and when I was first beginning to ride lightweight bikes in the early 70's "everyone" in the US "had to have" an all-Campy Italian bike. And in the 70's all high end Italian frames seemed very similar, the only difference seeming to be whether the lug cutouts were spades, clubs, hearts, diamonds or stars.

That said, I do have several Italian bikes, although most, other than the celeste Bianchi TSX-UL, bought just because no collection is complete without a celeste Bianchi, are "different" in some way, i.e. a bit outside the Italian mainstream. One of those is my 1968 Legnano Typo Roma, with that iconic Legnano seatpost bolt, and since the bike has Universal CP's, also a special Legnano rear brake hanger that bolts into a threaded hole in the back of the seattube, there being no seatbolt in the usual location to secure the brake hanger. I find these Fejus bikes from the era when Legnano owned the Frejus brand equally appealing. Always liked the color combinations used on Frejus and on Legnano, including the famous Legnano green.

This current bike is a very nice example of a Legnano era Frejus.

\r?\n> What a very attractive bike you have

\r?\n> there Jim ! It's not every frame builder who can make a

\r?\n> frame painted in that curious shade of  popsicle green look

\r?\n> good.

\r?\n>

\r?\n> What you really have is not, of course, a Frejus, but a

\r?\n> Legnano with Frejus transfers - the eetermining factor being

\r?\n> the seat-lug bolt that is underslung at the joint of the

\r?\n> seat and top-tubes. Frejus used to use the seat clamp method

\r?\n> around an upstanding seat tube, or at least for their top

\r?\n> frames. Not that this fact deters from the quality of the

\r?\n> bike in any way.

\r?\n>

\r?\n> If you ever get to the stage of having some spare time on

\r?\n> your hands, and nothing to fill that time...just let me

\r?\n> know, as I have some fifty or sixty quality bikes that need

\r?\n> sprucing up and it appears from the successful job you made

\r?\n> of theFrejus that you could be the sort of chap I'm looking

\r?\n> for.
