As I recall, it took at least several hundred miles and the 1977 Arkansas State Championship Road Race at Petit Jean State Park (partly run in the rain) to break in my Brooks Pro.  They're pretty hard and stiff when they're new.  Once you break them in, they're the most comfortable thing you'll ever ride!

Buy a Brooks used and bypass most of the break-in.

Since leather saddles conform uniquely to the rider, does it make sense to purchase a used saddle that is shaped to the previous owner ?
