Subject: [CR] Panasonic Pasela tires

Bikies,

I have used the 700 x 28 Panasonic Paselas (TGs and all-black versions) on my Eisentraut for many years, and I am happy with them.

Why?

I rode two AIDS/LifeCycle rides (SF to LA, 585 miles in a week) and had ZERO flats on 'em. I passed literally dozens of my fellow riders who were on the side of the road, patching or replacing flat tires on their lighter, narrower, and more responsive (usually Michelin) clinchers, but I never had to stop to fix my own flats.

I also was very happy with their downhill tracking and stability, using 100-115 PSI. (I started each ride with new tires mounted about 150-200 training miles before the week's ride to let them "break in," per the advice of Dennis Stone at my LBS.)

They may not feel as "lively" as some, but I call sitting on the side of the road fixing flats a REALLY "un-lively" feeling.

I like my "cheaper" Paselas. I agree they feel nice, though it seems some are imperfect. I have gotten a couple bulges on the sidewalls right "out of the box". This may just be on the 27" sizes. My only 700c bike has TG, so I can't comment there.-- Garrett Belmont Los Angeles, CA
