The basic Record was the standard front derailleur intended to be used with all of the Campagnolo chainring sets throughout the On-Topic era. It works fine on my P-15 Paramount with 36-49-54t triple crankset and 14-31 freewheel - which is a rather wide gear range. I've used one with TA chainrings (28-52) without any problems.

In my limited experience, I've found no simple parallelogram style Front derailleurs from any manufacturers at all which ever seemed to present an issue for any gear ranges. Some Huret front derailleurs (e.g. Jubilee) were known to be a bit too flimsy to firmly nudge a chain, but I've never heard of Record derailleurs ever exhibiting this problem.

One annoying minor quirk I've noticed is the narrow spacing inside the front chain cage, which will require a lot of repeated "trim" adjustment following shifts. Especially noticeable when using wider traditional 5-speed chains which have link pins extended outward more than flatter sided and narrower modern (8 or 9-spd) chains.
