Subject: [CR] Beautiful British Road Bikes on UK Ebay

There seems to be no problem in the UK opening up 3herbfish's auction for these frames and parts.

The seller is declaring that she will ship worldwide..and so the auctions cannot be being blocked to restrict viewing the the UK

The frames are incredibly redolent of the immediate post-WWll ear of British bikes in which bates, Paris, and Claud Butler were major influences.

Of course that period was noted for the shortage of parts such as lugs and so several of these frames are bronze-welded/lungless, ie the Paris Tour de France, the Bates Vendome, the CB Track frame and the The Success. The Paris Galibier is of course bilaminated -semi-lugless.

The Paris Tour de France (item No 110407204142) is one of the oldest I have seen and is in original red flam finish - very unusual for one of Harry Rensch s bikes - and has the original Paris transfers bearing the legend Velos Paris. I have a number of paris frames from the 40s and have never come across these transfers.

The Vendome (item No 110407249599) and the CB track ( item No 110407206679) are very basic lugless work=horse type of machines..but the Galibier (item No 110407203454) is quite resplendent in gold polychromatic finish with a red panel on the seat tube, and white lining. At £500 it looks attractive as it would need no re-enamelling.

The The Success (item No 110407204986) is a rare beast with twin tubes making up the top, seat and down tubes as well as the stays. Numbered No 26 it is claimed to be the last of the THE SUCCESS frames built. Very like some of your American newspaper-boys bikes.

The Bates Diadrant with Nervex lugs (item No 110407205873) looks to be in good fettle, but in fact needs a respray as the existing finish is a spray can job.

The final frame if the Thanet Silverthan (item No 110407207597) - the normal design Thanet..not the Silverlight. It has an all-chrome finish

The prices from £100 to £500 reflect both the rarity value and the state of the paintwork.

No pictures are yet on the site for the Chater Lea accessories.

Hope this helps
