Frameset has been sold, thank you. ----- Original Message ----- From: Ed Braley To: Classicrendezvous@bikelist.org Sent: Tuesday, June 30, 2009 2:14 PM Subject: FS: 53cm Austro Daimler Superleicht frameset; $425 + shipping

I don't participate in this list very often, but I have something that may be of interest to someone, so here it is:

Offered to the list is a rare, mint, and beautiful smoked-chrome PUCH Austro-Daimler Superleicht frameset with Ritchey WCS sealed bearing headset for the price of $425 + shipping.

The frame measures 53cm center of bottom bracket to top of seat tube, with a 54.5cm center to center top tube. Chain stays measure 410mm, Front center measures 590mm. Bottom bracket drop measures 8cm.

The frame and fork are constructed from Reynolds 531 steel with elegant Bocama lugs. This frame is finished in the proprietary and most durable "smoked-chrome" plating unique to Austro Diamlers of the period. It has a dark gold hue, and the original gold colored decals are nearly mint with just a few small imperfections. Reynolds 531 transfers on the fork blades and seat tube. Gold window fill in the lugs and engravings. Original PUCH headbadge.

The seat stay caps and semi-flat fork crown have PUCH and A-D engravings. There are short Campagnolo horizontal dropouts with threaded adjusters in the rear and Campy dropouts in front. One set of bottle bosses, standard shifter bosses, under bottom bracket cable guides, three top mounted brake cable eyelets, chain peg, and a vented bottom bracket shell. Reinforced brake bridge.

The rear spacing was factory built to 130mm. Takes a 27.2 seat post, English threaded bottom bracket. Uses short reach (39-49mm) allen attached brakes. No fender or rack eyelets.

A NOS satin anodized Ritchey WCS sealed cartridge bearing headset was recently installed, and the interrior of the frame was treated with JP Weigle framesaver. The frame is perfect; it's straight, there is no rust or damage of any kind whatsoever, and the workmanship is outstanding, Unlike thick paint jobs or powdercoating, the plating allows the bare frame to be visible underneath, and careful scrutiny will find the handwork employed in the final finishing of the metal. This is a truly beautiful frameset! I've owned it for nearly 20 years, purchased it from the original owner. The bike has seen little use, and is probably one of the finest examples that you will ever see. I've got some other projects in the works, and I've decided to offer it to the list.

The frameset will be safely packed, fully insured, and shipped to US destinations for the fixed price of $35. It will arrive ready to assemble.
