David Allen wrote, I think the C-34 was actually a Bertin.? Bertin also had the C-28 mid range touring ?bike and the C-117 touring ?with Vitus tubing.? Mercier had the 100, 200 and 300 models.? The Bobets were surely private labeled by Merciers.

+++++++++++++++ And I know no reason why they might not have come from the same factory. One strong hint of the association between Bobet & Mercier is the pair of pictures on the inside front cover of the &th Ed. CycloPedia, which shows Eugene Portuesi with M. Emile Mercier and with M. Pascal Selles, Chief Engineer of Mercier. The caption for the one with M. Mercier says, "Messierus Emile Mercier and Eugene Portuesi examining a replica (C-35 model) of the frame used in the 1965 Tour de France"
