When it comes to what kind of fenders to put on a vintage bike, it depends on the country of origin of the bike, or what the manufacturer used originally. Honjo aluminum fenders may be more appropriate on French and of course Japanese bikes, whereas Bluemels would be just about the only choice for British bikes. There are also the German ESGE, now called SKS fenders, which are very nice. The most popular Bluemels fender among club riders back in the day was the Club Special which wrapped around the tire, keeping the spray off riders beside you.
