Mike, If the serial number is still present, the date code is part of that number. I don't remember how it goes, but any crusty Schwinn guy can give you that info. Cheer, Keith

Fellow members; Loking for the history of remakes of the Schwinn Super Sport. This week I bought a Super Sport for $2.00 that was Champion Tubing 2 Tange Built. Looks like the fork was dipped and the rear stays also then the chrome was painted over at factory. Hoping whole bike is chrome but does not look like it so far. SR stuff was crank set, seat stem, headset, bar stem, and Champion bars. Components were all Sun-Tour Cyclone accept RD was replaced. Braze on Sun-Tour down tube shifters. 700 Ukia wheels and Dia-Compe side pull brakes G-500's. Dia-Compe brake levers but with safety levers. Sun-Tour rear drop outs too. Looks to be 79 to 81 it has a frame mounted RD hanger. I am looking for closest year to date of this production and did they make the reproduction all along I thought the name was just brought back not to long ago. SR front crank set was also a triple and rear freewheel was a five gear. KKV pedals with the chrome stems too. Rear stays had rack braze ons and the bike came with front and rear racks. Seems like the design was for touring. It has nice touring geometry.
