Since you're playing mad chemist, you might also consider other complimentary colors for certain iconic classic bikes colors - perhaps Gios blue? I think a host of Bianchi Tifosi would worship you as a Velo-God for a set of Celeste hoods.
A'ME seemed to bank on this pretty nicely during the 1980s, before STI/ERGO... and now HUDZ is jumping on that color-coordinating marketplace for modern components.
While perhaps not perfectly accurate for restoration needs, non-Campagnolo colored brake hoods were certainly in production among other manufacturers during On Topic years - notably various blue and green Mafac half-hoods as early as the 1950s, and then Dia-Compe hoods for their own lever hoods (also suited to Weinmann) by perhaps the late 1970s.
