Subject: [CR] frames for sale and short RANT

Dear listmembers,

Here is a list of small frames and bikes I am going to sell. I need to cut down my collection so I don't use up all of the new space in my new workshop. Some of these things I'll just never get to; so time to send them off to someone who has the time and inclination to get them back on the road. I will have a few more once I get settled in the new place and dig deeper into my storage pile.

2000 Hetchins Magnam Opus Millennium frame and fork. Ser. # 2011, number 11 of 15, even though it was about the 3rd or 4th Millennium built. I got to pick the Ser. # so I picked my lucky number 11. This frame was built to my order for me and I took delivery of it without paint or chrome. I spent 2 months sharpening the lug edges and filing them thin before I had the chrome applied to the bottom of the fork blades and rear part of the stays. Then I did a light blue, cobalt blue (or electric blue), and then gold leaf on the lugs and crown. It's spectacular overall. Frame is 51 cm c-t with a 52cm TT. Vibrant stays of course and fancy lug stuff all over the place, and even round fork blades by my request. $1750.00. I'm sure I've put on less than 100 miles on this bike.

Mid 70's Eisentraut Limited Touring frame. 52cm c-t, Reynolds 531 tubing, Nervex Professional Lugs and crown. Original paint and decals mostly intact. Light blue metallic. One SMALL dent in rt. seat stay 2" above rear rack braze on. Built to fit 27" wheels. Cantis could be brazed on to fit 700c if you did a repaint. $200.00

70's Motobecan "Le Champion" frame. 53cm c-t, TT 55cm. Reynolds 531 tubing. Teal candy with Ivory lugs and panels (the reason I bought this bike, I love this combo) I have begun the touch up, but needs to be finished. Comes with NR 26.4 seat post, French parts for NR headset, ft. and r brake cable hangers and seat binder bolt. $250.00

Woodrup road frame and fork. Mid 80's probably. Reynolds 531 throughout. Paint and decals will be OK with touch up. 48cm c-t, TT53cm. Frame in great shape, not ridden much. Lots of life left in her for someone pretty small. $150.00.

Anyway, this is a rare purge from my personal bicycle collection. Next purge will be in the vintage drumset collection department.

Brian Baylis La Mesa, CA USA BTW, I've been biting my tongue regarding all of the paint/restoration talk on this list in the past week or two. I really don't have time to read all this stuff; and even less time to write about it. But I really want to "put the shoe on the other foot" so to speak; and clue you all in to what the paint/restoration business is like. It's NO PICNIC; and some of the stuff that some people have opined is plain nonsense. Most paint clients are reasonable and respectful of what we, as painters, are up against. Others are a lot less so, as I shall explain. That is IF I can find the time between all that is happening on my end, to speak my mind. Some won't want to hear it. Regardless, it needs to be said.
