Double side tape comes with either an Acrylic(white) or Butyl(black) tape . The acrylic tape takes time to set while the Butyl grips immediately. These tapes are thick as there is an intermediate layer . I would recommend ''Attachment ''tape by TESA (formerly Tuck) which is just an adhesive film with no backing or intermediate layer. You lay it across the back of the plate and then using a Q tip dipped in solvent, dissolve the excess film on the outer and inner open spaces. Then just press it in place. This product or one simmilar should be available from your local Autobody paint supplier or maybe a good Art store. I have seen name plates attached with solid rivets, ''Pop'' type rivets,Screws and glue
