That's interesting. Maybe Jim clued him in that the bike may not fetch the money he was after, so he decided to keep it. I wasn't looking that closely to the situation; but wasn't the seller a non-cyclist? I thought he inherited the bike.

A local friend of mine emailed the seller just as the auction ended or rather was cancelled. The reply he received was as follows:

"After visiting with Cunningham (original painter) he decided to keep bicycle. I will forward your email so he can see your request."

BTW my friend's request was to make a legit offer, though south of the 13k ask.
