Just wondering if someone can provide advice to a British bike neophyte. I have a Hetchins Magnum Opus, ~1953-56. I need to replace the cranks and chainrings with something with more utility for regular use, as the current rings are 50/47 and it has a cottered crank.
To do so, I'm also going to have to replace the bottom bracket. My question is, does a standard British-threaded modern BB fit these bikes? Any suggestions for spindle length?
Don't worry, I'll be storing the original parts carefully if the bike ever needs to be returned to 100% original.
