Tom Sanders wrote: A local shop has a yellow Schwinn Twin Deluxe (Note this is not a Paramount), I believe from the '70s. If you are interested, it is $350 and for more info you can call 517-482-8585 and get more comprehensive info. This is a tigged 5 speed thing ( but with chrome fenders!) needs some tender loving care, but entirely there, as far as I can tell.Must weigh a ton! Jerry Moos, it's calling you! +++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++ This bike was an extension of the Suburban-Varsity-Continental series, with very heavy gauge 1" steel tubing. I don't believe it was TiG-welded, but could be wrong. I've seen them in versions from single-speed coaster through 5-speed with rear drum hub, and some 10-speed with cheap alloy cranks (I think). The bike has only one known virtue: I was able to convert a number of them to "kid-back" use by cutting off the seat stays and some of the rear seat tube, leaving two sets of heavy steel stays. With the Ashtabula cranks, it was easy and cheap to get short ones (4"?) for the back. Our son did hundreds of miles on one of these, tricked out with much nicer wheels, a real fork, etc. The Twinn is NOT to be confused with the prior "Town & Country," which was fillet brazed of larger diameter chrome-moly tubing. I can't imagine paying >$100 for one; for $350 a patient person might find a Follis or Gitane of the era, with TA cotterless cranks. And another awful rear drum hub.

Since I don't think of this as fitting in our topic area, I'm happy to respond off-line. But, Tom's a good guy, so we oughtta cut him slack for spotting the thing. Somewhere I might even have the instructions for converting one of these critters.
