As an owner of a couple Huffy team frames a 7-11 from 1987 and a team Crest one from 1988. The 88 is Serotta concept tubing lugged and fillet brazed construction. The 87 is a full lugged frame with true temper tubing still in one piece. The word I got from Serotta was that the riders requested lighter frames in 87 so they used lighter tubing on them with some mixed results, you've heard about the problems. That was why some riders like Roll and Hampsten got their bikes from other builders. Andy was for sure riding a Landshark in the 88 giro. Not sure when Bob got his DeRosa. The tubing in 88 was designed to solve those problems I believe that's were the colorado concept tubing name came from.

However, those problems are pretty well established: Ben Serotta describes multiple frame failures, and Ron Keifel relates an incident in Italy where he finished a descent with his frame barely in one piece.
