Subject: [CR] Query about rust prevention on frame around clamp-ons

I am about to start putting together a 74 Raleigh Pro. Paint and finish in pretty good condition - about 90%. As you know, almost all the bits & pieces on this frame are clamped on. After cleaning the frame my plan was to give it a coat of wax but I would also like to put some kind of protection on the frame where the clamps - DT shifters, cable guides, pump umbrella - are located. Is clear nail polish the right protection? I'm assuming this should go on before the wax. Right? Any other advice will be appreciated. This bike will be ridden. George Strickler New Orleans, La.
