In 1980 I don't think many people bought Campagnolo N.R. derailleurs in the after-market, but I was one person who did, in 1980, when I managed to get a cheap Paramount P-15 and I wanted a nuovo-record rear mech so that I could look 'racy' to my high school friends.

If my memory serves me correctly, my 1980 Nuovo Record derailleur came with a piece of cardboard used to keep the upper pivot bolt the derailleur from falling off the derailleur body and getting lost, much like the piece of cardboard used to keep the brake adjusting barrel from falling off the caliper and getting lost.
