Pletscher was one of our stalwart suppliers. We were one of the
original distributors for them . The strap type mounting came first and
then the plate.Someone made a T shaped plate which did a very nice job
of the brake mount but I dont recall it being original.
The racks came both Axle mount and dropout mount and my biggest
customers were Schwinn dealers. That went away as Schwinn went to an
'Approved' rack which was Japanese.
Pletscher should have made the move to the touring type racks like
Blackburne but they rode that cast deck rack right to the end. I think
they were absorbed by the SKS group (another stalwart vender in the old
days)
As I left the industry in 1980 what happened past that point
is unknown to me
