Subject: [CR] Bicycle Auction-- save the date!!

On October 24, 2009, one of the premier bicycle collections, all CR ready for prime time will have a physical auction in Danielson Ct at Adventure Sport, 21 Furnace Street (formerly Al Scaeffer's Ordinary Bicycles). There will be modest reserves on each bike. Simultaneously we are exploring setting up a virtual auction a la Sotheby's style to be conducted by Harry Schwartzman via the internet. Anyone with experience setting up virtual bidding (online bidding with a phone connection to the Danielson site) please contact Harry at the e address above. Also at auction will be a high end air rifle collection, complete with leather scabbards for those interested in biathalon competitions. Below is a partial list of the two delicacies to be served up. Pizza will be on hand and beer and soda at cost. The first six bikes are aero tubed bikes from the early 80's. Ovalized tubing and equipped with either Dura Ace AX or Campagnolo C-record components. 1. Lotus Aero-- repainted by Peter Weigle in Mazda Miata blue. Flawless paint, AX componments 2.Richard Sachs aero: Tange tubing, NOS frame, gently used AX parts. A rare (only?) aero frame by one of the masters. 3.Scapin aero. Custom frame from New York Bike show 1980 with AX components. 4.Peter Weigle aero bike, repainted by Peter, with AX components 5. Hami (custom bike) by Hans Mittendorf, German custom frame builder, custom tubes, milder oval shape than Tange 6.Araya aero--Tange production bike with AX components Traditional steel tubing either Columbus SL or Reynolds 531 double butted tubing throughout:

7.Montelatici-- frame was brought new, unfinished from his shop in Italy. Painted and chromed in US. Montelatici was one of Cinelli's star builders, and this is a rare opportunity to buy a NOS frame of a late 60's Cinelli build with Campagnolo NR components. 8. Cinelli SC-- highest level Cinelli masterfully restored with original components. The most sought after classic bike in as new condition 9.Crescent-- Sweden's answer to the European bike boom. Reynolds 531, Huret Duopar rear, a comfortable classic 10.Pogliaghi-- restored by Peter Weigle, Pogliaghi is one of the revered masters of the classic period ( along with Cinelli ) 11.Speedwell path racer; imported from Australia, painted in the contemporary style (50s) this was used in "path" racing, so brakes were required. 12.Peter Weigle time trial bike. Repainted by Peter, with combination C-Record and AX parts. 13. Paris Sport, a 1930s path racer "restored" by Cyclart--i.e. painted to appear period patina'd. 14.Gitane Pro, nothing fancy, but ridden in many tours as the bicycle of choice, Reynolds 531 tubing throughout 15.Gitane Hosteller-- French Camping bike, well set up for carrying loads. 16. Miyata Pro with Shimano Sante components. A sought after frame with a rare gruppo from the early '80s other bikes as well, all classic steel frames with high end tubing and rare components. Your chance to buy a selection from one of the premier collections in the country. All bikes are in a 52-56 cc size range. Please join us for what we expect will be a great evening.
