Oh whoops, 0.1% is the _December_ 2008 inflation rate, not the annual one. I learned my lesson (never interpret results from the google preview of web pages.) The true annual rate for 2008 was 3.8%, but in 2009 so far it's -0.9% from Jan-August. So roughly in 2008 and 2009, inflation is about 2.9%, so :
$150 in Aug 2009 would be $31.43 in 1972 $150 in Aug 2009 would be $38.69 in 1975 $150 in Aug 2009 would be $46.87 in 1978
