Big canvas bags that draped over a rear rack and a basket in front. The bike was a single speed Schwinn, I think it was actually called the Newsboy. I did the morning paper and shared the bike with my neighbor who delivered the evening paper. When we left the routes, we passed the bike on to the next set of delivery boys. That bike was sturdy.

I just got a WWII surplus gas mask bag for $15 to replace my old cotton musette, which wore out. It's a bit bigger than the musette, has a cover, and is made of tougher material. It also has a belly band to help hold it in place. I can carry a pound of coffee and a couple of library books, or a bunch of smaller bike parts, so it's perfect for the errands I do.
