I wish to offer you all an apology.
A local CR member pointed out that my response this morning to Mark Winkelman's offer of a Campagnolo spoke protector--and a NOS version at that--sounded like a criticism of Mark's pricing or his auction. This was never my intention. In fact, I was enthusiastic about his auction and meant to convey support in my post, but my hastily and poorly chosen words had the opposite effect. (See both posts below.)
Mark was "a little taken aback" by my post, and he appreciated the apology I already offered to him off-list. The apology should have never been necessary, however, and the slight was completely avoidable. This incident was a reminder to me to choose my words more carefully and to think a bit longer before casually hitting the send button. Even unintentional word choices can hurt and upset others. ("Always edit every email you send out" is one of my standard rules. I broke it this morning with predictable results.)
