Eye protection is a great idea, but I'm not ready to sacrifice head protection to get it. And, let there be no misunderstanding: The "Skid-Lid" was a dangerous product whose design could not absorb significant amounts of energy, thus could not safely decelerate the head, and thus was essentially worthless for protecting the head.

Indeed, as I recall the situation, Skid-Lid fought for years to delay the consensus process that lead to the first ANSI helmet standard, and declared bankruptcy almost immediately after it was adopted.

I will replace yet another helmet tomorrow, as a result of a fall today. It's creased, but my head is not.

But, the item at auction would be neat as a wall hanger, yet another demonstration of power of marketers to overcome mere facts, at least for a while. Yup, I do feel strongly about this.

someone's motorcycle face shield made it onto someone else's skid lid. thought you might enjoy the results. maybe it's a rare, early TT helmet?
