Just realized that I have empirical evidence of my ordinary handstrength ;-) Working in neuro science I sometimes test subjects and patients with the hand grip test of the Halstead-Reitan neuro-psychological battery. When I've tested my own handstrength, I come in right at the normed average. (This doesn't address the habituation question, however.)
