Hi Don, My posting on just this subject from a few days ago, proves that this is not the case. I photo documented "BREV. INTER." examples in both long and short reach, and "BREV. INT." examples, also in both long and short reach. Here again is the link to the pics I took: <_http://www.wooljersey.com/gallery/fujifish1/OtherVintage/Parts/CalipLogos/ _ (http://www.wooljersey.com/gallery/fujifish1/OtherVintage/Parts/CalipLogos/) > Or, Tiny URL: <http://tinyurl.com/dgmodw >
"BREV. INT" examples, with no period after "INT" (not shown in pics), are later than the "INT." version, with a period. I have only seen the "INT" in short reach, but cannot say whether or not they also exist in long reach form.

'Back in the day Record calipers cost a friggin fortune (I remember $65-$70 for a brakeset, and inflation is about 6x since the mid 70's so that's $390-$420 in today's dollars, almost as much as today's chorus record brifter/caliper sets, and today's stuff has shifters!
Last year I bought some 70's partial and complete brakesets. Here are some datapoints from my memory, most are imho good values :
- long reach 77+ calipers/levers, recessed mount, no pads/holders, $60 DEAL - long reach pre-77 calipers, NOS, no pads/holders, $90 DEAL
- short reach pre-77 calipers, scratched, $110, NOT bought by me. - long reach pre-77 calipers, hilarystone, $130, scratched/rusty, NOT bought by me.
By the way "BREV INT" is short reach, "BREV INTER" is long reach.
In general it's hard to find brakesets with pads/holders now.
- 4x metal holders of the pre-77 type are all $50+, maybe $75 NOS. - 4x NOS pads are $20-$30 now. - 1x BREV CAMP nutted front bolt is $40+ i imagine (VERY hard to find) - 1x PATENT nutted front bolt is $25 (several sources) - 1x STAR washers is about $3-5.
======
That's $135 of parts (midpoint valuations) and we aren't even talking about the caliper arms and barrel adjusters and nuts and all that jazz...
The ebay calipers are complete and there is no rust, and there are virtually no scratches. completeness for the early campagnolo brakes would imho double the value. So, my $90 NOS pre-77 calipers, when complete with pads/holders, probably have a street value of $180 at least.
While $230 is a high selling price, it is not "out of the ballpark" for a like-new set of calipers, ready-to-go, unmarked but not quite NOS. It comes complete with NO HEADACHES.
