I would agree with Norris that the bike is a real bargain at that price... I think everyone agreed it was an extremely nice bike. The only discussion was whether the bike deserved a whiff of smelling salts.
I'm sure Norris is just being provocative about Herses all being the same ( Hey Jan, here is a red rag !! ).
Take a look at http://www.reneherse.com and you will see that there are no two ide ntical bikes, as is logical from a maker of hand-built bicycles. In the 60s maybe things were a bit more standard, but certainly in the 40s and 50s th e experimentation that was going on was quite incredible.
