cost more than the Stronglight/Simplex, but it would not appeal to a Fran
cophile who wanted an original PX-10. Lots of guys In The Day "upgraded" F
rench bikes in this way. In fact, my LeJeune F-70, the equilavent of a
PX-10, at one point had Campy cranks, original DuraAce brakes, Campy
hubs, and clipless pedals before I restored it to the original French co
mponents about 10 years ago. Problem with upgraded bikes is they are done
to suit the owner's individual taste, which might not appeal to a potenti
al buyer.

That might be the way to get the most money. But it wouldn't be profitable
if he has to buy the French components to restore it.

bikes of the same quality. I think that may be because some buyers are int
imidated by the idea of French threading. Some of that, like pedal threa
ding, may have been eliminated by the Campy components, but the bike wi
ll still have French threaded BB and steerer, assuming it has the origina
l fork.

tag rather than stamped into the BB. I seem to recall the the metal tags a
ppeared in the mid 70's, but maybe someone else has a better date.
