Re: [CR] PX-10?? in SD on Craigs List

Don't know about the exact year 1979 being correct, but Chcuck Schmidt's collection of Peugeot catalogs does show a "Super Competition" 531DB frameset in the late 70's/early 80's. The catalog shows the complete bike as the PXN 10, which agrees with the seller except he adds an "E" to make it PXN10E. The same frame was available as frameset only, in which case it was designated CFX 10. This frame did indeed have a fully chromed fork but painted stays, as compared to the late 60' through mid 70's, when the PX-10, and most of its competitors from other French manufacturers, had half-chromed forks and half-chromed stays.

This was originally a pretty nice bike, and the frame looks to be in very good original condition. However, $800 is probably on the high end of what this bike would go for if complete and original, and most of the components have been changed. So it would take considerable effort and expense to put it back to original. I think this might be an Ok deal for someone wanting a citty bike/hybrid as currently set up, but probably not economic to restore as a road bike.
