That's a slick modification. I've never thought of using a derailleur hanger in that way. If my Raleigh Team track bike had holes for brakes I'd probably try it just for the heck of it to see how it rides in road configuration! At least it'd make it a more usable bike rather than the static display it currently holds in my collection.

I think the comments that have followed Tobit's post have focused too much on the fixie/non-fixie debate, rather than on the ingenuity/cleverness that someone has come up with.
