Guess I'm a "goof ball" of a different kind. I'm not a tough twenty year old anymore, so in the tape department, on the bikes I ride regularly and long distances, the one concession I have made is black gel/cork tape. I know, I know it's not cotton or Benotto but as you have discovered, the old stuff is not very comfortable. Planet Bike has a very comfy black gel tape that works well for me. It stretches without breaking and can wrap up to a 44 cm bar. Up close a purist would turn up his/her nose in disgust, but ya know what? I can ride 100 miles with no hand discomfort.

My two cents.

Oh, by the way, I'm not endorsing Planet Bike, nor do they endorse me. Just sayin'.

Gang: Ok since most of us "goof balls" out there ride either on benotto, leather or cloth tape, what company exists that makes PADDED gloves that are worth a (bleep).? My hands are numb and yeah I know I can hear it already....get tougher hands. Inquiring minds really want to know! Regards, Jack
