there is a basic difference once you start to lift a wheel. On a tadpole once you lift a frontwheel the rearwheel will try to align itself with the acting frontwheel, which moves the CG to a larger radius. With a single wheel up front the rearwheel will move towards a smaller radius which means things get interesting in a hurry. It is the same mechanism which causes caravans to tip over in a crosswind -- mvg
