Hi, I have recently installed a set of gold Mafac Competition brakes on a bike that I built during the summer. I originally wanted to fit an early set of gold 2000's (with the stamped 2000 logo). Unfortunately, they were too long. The reach on the Competition is shorter by about 3 to 5mm, if my memory serves me well.
Incidentally, I used the same transverse cables with both types of brakes.
I hope that this helps.
All the best, Peter Rogers
