Very interesting fork crown on that early Cinelli, never have seen that one before. I have an old one, but must be later than that one.

> Alright, enough already. let's wrap this up.

\r?\n> After a few hints from another NCCC member ("the clue is in one of
\r?\n> Merckx's unique fetishes... also something to do with his body size.
\r?\n> think about eddy with his tape measure... ") the answer was clear.
\r?\n>
\r?\n> And in fact was the first answer that came in, from Paul Arbez in
\r?\n> Vancouver. Second place to Derek Willburn in California.
\r?\n> (No prize I am afraid Paul. Just Congratulations.)
\r?\n>
\r?\n> This from Mike Barry:
\r?\n>
\r?\n> "Hi Peter,
\r?\n> Yes the answer is 'saddle too low'.
\r?\n> I had an e-mail discussion with author Jan Hiene about it and he said
\r?\n> that that was how he received the bike for photographing and if he had
\r?\n> corrected the saddle position scratches on the post would show. To me
\r?\n> that saddle position really spoils the whole cover photo. (That is the
\r?\n> photo on the front of the book.) I wrote about the book and the cover
\r?\n> photo in my blog last Feb 1. You can read it if you wish at
\r?\n> http://www.bicyclespecialties.blogspot.com and going to the Feb09 posts.
\r?\n>
\r?\n> Here is the URL to Mike's February posts, which includes a writeup of
\r?\n> the restoration of Mike's own 1951 Cinelli.

\r?\n> His most recent blog post is of his visits to Italian cycling museums.
\r?\n>
\r?\n> Thanks for all the suggestions and guesses.
\r?\n> I've asked Mike to dream up another trivia question.
