I have read that Cinelli numbers are not terribly useful for dating purposes. I have number 4874. My bike is similar to the one on ebay, but mine does not have bb cable guides, and there are no holes in the fork tangs. Mine has holes in the lugs. Mine also has a non-allen seat binder bolt. I think the ebay model is early 1970's
I also think the ebay frame has been repainted. Not only does the headbadge not match the general level of finish of the frame and components, but the truly original paintjobs I have seen also have a little "Made in Italy" sticker on the headtube that is missing from the ebay model.
John Barron has photos of an unrestored 1970 model SC here

Great fun following CR efforts to decode eBay stuff.
Alleged 1968 Holy Grail has SN 5938. For reference, Cinelli SC SN 5237 is alive and well in Eugene Oregon with an original 1971 NR group hung on it, waiting for me to buy it, when I save up.
Is it safe to assume that SN 5237 was made before SN 5938; or is that too naive?
