Don - I just purchased a set of these on Ebay recently:

http://ebay.com/<blah>

Item number: 270464649463

The seller seems to have a whole stock of them. Their title they have for the auction is bad and so they are not easy to find through searching for "weinmann hoods."

They came in the original bag and were in good shape. Very thin and very translucent, moreso than the generic black hoods I have used but hey they get the job done - and for much cheaper than hunting down the genuine Weinmann hoods!

A few years ago I bought a few pairs of generic asian translucent gum hoods in the weinmann 144 pattern.  These were patterned like the black generic hoods that are still sold on ebay, with ribs on top and bottom :

Does someone still know a source for these hoods ??  Some old sources were sjscycles.co.uk, and a place in michigan, (hokiespokes?) but these sources are gone now.  The only assured source for 144 pattern hoods is cane creek / dia-compe, but they sell a very dark, decidedly non-gum-colored hoods, that aren't a good replacement on most vintage calipers.
